Tonight, "it's the great pumpkin, charlie brown" is on ABC... And now I know why.. Linus and I are not too far apart .. OY!

(Ok he is a little boy and i am a middle age woman.. and yes .. i know he is a cartoon.. and i am not... AND yes.. i dont drag my blanket around with me everywhere.. and yes.. Linus says, "good grief" and i prefer "OY!" .... BUT READ ON, dammit.. and you will see the similarities. heh)

i always loved the program.. it is the belief by a wishful child that he will see the great pumpkin...

but as the fable goes.. if there is a moment of doubt ..the great pumpkin will pass on by.. and Linus uses the word "if" instead of "when" the Great Pumpkin arrives...

and alas the great pumpkin passes him by...

Linus ever the optimist says, "But just wait till next year!"

My great pumpkin is a New York Jets SUPERBOWL... ( i know most of you thought i was going to say Rex, werent you? lol)

anyway.. every year.. it does not arrive...

but this year will be different..i feel it in my old Yenta bones... and i will be right here WHEN ( not if) the New York Jets SUPERBOWL win arrives.

I will be here.. with my Jets blankie ( a la Linus) and my Neil O'Donnell Jersey ( dont mock me.. he has gone 5-0 this year)

It is tip-off time in the NBA.... with the Boston Celtics ( blech) vs. the Miami Heat (yuck) .. as a lifelong Knicks fan.. i just cant be excited about that match-up.

Will LeBron, Wade, and Bosh beat Garnett, Pierce and Allen ( ok as a UCONN fan.. i do like Ray Allen.. but still not enough for me to like the celtics. OY!)

Does this game really matter..?? there are 81 more games.....

ok granted if this was the JETS i would be over the moon excited..

To me.. tonight's excitement comes in the form of GLEE!! They are doing a Rocky Horror Picture Show themed show..!!!

I know it might be scary for you to picture... but i loved going to midnight shows ( back in the day... OY!) getting dressed up.. and of course my toast, water guns, and toilet paper..!!

I am sorry but Tim Curry in Drag is HOT!!! :) Though i am jealous because he could wear heels better then i could.

Within a couple of days, the Yankees organization and baseball in general, lost two giants..

Firstly, Bob Sheppard, the man who loved the English language and prided himself in his elocution .. his voice will live on thru player introductions.. .. Until he retires.. Derek Jeter will always have the recording of Bob Sheppard introducing him.. it is a testament to his love of yankee baseball.

Secondly.. THE BOSS .. George M. Steinbrenner.. he is the man who brought the team out of the muck of the early 70's and then slogged thru the 80's where the most exciting thing about the team each year was whether he would hire or fire Billy Martin..

Then the glorious late 90's and again last year.. his last ring..

George went out after his 80's birthday, as the reigning world champion and on the day of the All-Star game!

i think i will go for Netherlands.. it is the only place of the four i have visited. Ok so i barely made it out of Amsterdam.. but that is a whole other story. :-)

The Yankees won today and are in first place.. so that is good news...

Tiger Woods is still having trouble with his wood(s).. and his putter ... he is 13 shots off the pace at the ATT national in PA. I think that there is an IHOP waitress could turn him around.. some hotcakes would surely do the trick ... pun totally intended!

44 days till the first preseason game where the JETs will prove that the "new meadowlands" is the JETs HOUSE and the giants are the visitors...AND 218 days till the JETs lift that Lombardi Trophy!!

had an emergency.. BUT all is well! :)

SO the good news that i have been bitching about .. is that i am now the proud owner of a PSL.. and one amazing seat at the new stadium...

AND my dad is going to take one of the games.. which makes me doubly happy!!

Now on to the sports of the (yester)day...

what an exciting couple of sporting matches... and i didnt get to see a one of them (live)..

but thanks to the world of technology and replays.. i have seen them both..

first the USA beating Algeria in the 91st minute to advance to the next round! Not only is this a great win for our country, but also for ESPN who will continue to reap good ratings!

then...

who thought another sporting match with only two unknown players could usurp some of the coverage.. but here it is .. the wimbledon match between Isner and Muhut.. now in the 5th set tied at 59-59.. ready to resume in half an hour...

i know i will be watching.. whether it ends in two games or goes on for another couple of hours .. no one can diminish the awesomeness of the match.. to me the most amazing thing was that they didnt have to pee for 6 hours yesterday.

SO today is a happy day.. despite the 371% humidity...

so this morning i called again.. and after 45 mins of explaining my displeasure to a young woman who was NOT my rep, she told me she would leave my rep ( who wasnt in at the moment) and the manager ( who was in a meeting) a message...

soooo... 15 mins later my rep called me back. She must have just gotten in. OY!

and she had spoken to the manager who was in the meeting .. and as i expected...my seat was not there.. it was promised to me in err. ( after all the run around.. i had a feeling this was the issue)

BUT she said that they were going to make it right !! and she would get back to me by the end of the day! .....

well it is 5:25 and no phone call yet...

maybe they have longer days.. so i still hold out hope...

sigh.. if not, i will call tomorrow.. again. arg!

who thought it would be so hard to BUY a PSL! sheesh!

On a different note, single seat tickets went on sale on ticketmaster for the patriots.. so I will be at the Monday Night Jets Pats game.. sitting on the 40yd line 5 rows behind the JETS bench....

so i will at least be at one game, albeit in enemy territory..

SO i went to the new meadowlands (JETS) stadium this past Wednesday.. and it was beautiful.

i sat in my new season tix seat.. that is right i went and did it and i bought the reduced PSL.... so i have a seat! so excited...

BUT when i went to confirm since i hadn't heard anything.. i seem to be getting the run around...

so tomorrow morning.. i am going to call.. beware the wrath of the sportsyenta...

and oh yes.. HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all the Dads out there! Thanks to mine who got me into sports which has lead to 40 years of JETs heartache. HA! No really.. i love you dad!

for some unknown reason, they let go of Wallace Wright. A real asset to special teams.. and a really nice young man.

i met him at the taste of the NFL, and he was kind, genuine, humble and actually engaged me in conversation. I am really upset that he has been released and i hope he finds success whereever he lands...

lito sheppard was also released.. the word is he has a good heart.. but it just didnt work here..

how will our team change over the next couple of weeks... ?

Leon Washington .. NFL team loyalty... and ranting!

if you have ever read any of my few posts, you know that i am a huge LEON Washington fan. He is a running back for the New York Jets ( at least as of this writing)

He had a terrible injury this year, and has dedicated himself to working to heal his body and get ready for the upcoming season. He was celebrated (along with other Jets players) during the last games at the now defunct Meadowlands stadium. The roar that Leon got when he entered the stadium rival some of the cherished favorites of years past.

So here it is March 3rd, and the Jets have placed a tender on LEON.. willing to give him away for 2nd round pick in the draft.. thats right they will give up a character guy who is a proven leader of the team.. for the 61st pick in the draft.. yep the 61st best of the 21 year old players coming out of college...

how stupid is that?

they have also, just the day previous gotten rid of their workhorse RB, Thomas Jones..

oh yes.. by the way.. the Jets talk about their offense being "ground and pound" but now they have decimated it.

really bright... OY!

the idea of team loyalty has changed... the teams that we love...

The owners and the front office want us to buy merchandise and even more specifically, jerseys of our favorite players... and yet they trade them away on a whim...

sometimes it seems that the only thing about our favorite teams that stay consistent are the colors..

why should we have team loyalty if the team owners dont have loyalty for their players ...?

and in NY loyalty for the fans seems to be an issue also, we are asked to play PSL for our ownership of our seats.. why would we want to own our seats when we arent even guaranteed to see the same faces on the field year to year..

dont get me wrong.. i know not every player can be drafted and then stay with the team for their whole career.. but it is still painful when the team just trades away the fan's favorites just because of the POTENTIAL of another player who has never played a down in the NFL.. or so maybe the owner wont have to pay quite so much for a player that they believe can do almost the same thing...

of course given that there were season ticket holders who cant afford to pay for seats in the new stadium that they owned for 30 years in the old stadium.. and that doesnt seem to matter..why should keeping the same players matter?

Ok.. well at least i always have the colors...

wait.. what??? i hear the #jets are thinking of changing their colors... out with the green...

and what i want is LEON Washington leading the offense out on the field in September! period

and if you are a sports fan, you know that it is all about supersticians.. so i couldnt blog until the season was over...

and what a run it was.

the AFC championship game, how great is that for a team that in the middle of the season had lost 6 out of 7 games..

you might be wondering if i ESPN called.. well yes they did call but it was to see if i wanted to subscribe to ESPN, the magazine..

i think they are playing hard to get...

i might have to bake some cookies and take a drive over there....
